Job summary

Victoria Police is seeking an Ongoing FO-5 Principal Caseworker in Melbourne to lead cold cases within the Biological Sciences Group. This role oversees case allocation, mentoring, and delivery of advanced forensic analyses, including DNA interpretation and reporting, with opportunities to present expert evidence in court.

The position requires an approved degree (post-graduate preferred) and pre-employment checks; location is Macleod with a permanent full-time arrangement.

Qualifications

• Requires a relevant approved degree or equivalent experience.
• Post-graduate qualification would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for cold case management, including case allocation and succession planning.
• Deliver high-level scientific/technical service and guidance within the Unit and across the business.
• Undertake casework and present expert opinion evidence in Courts relating to complex or sensitive work.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development and ensure quality accreditation requirements are met.
• Maintain reporting requirements and anticipate future needs for cold cases.
• Demonstrate strong case management across multi-disciplinary teams.
