Job summary

Talent International is partnering with a Queensland Government Department to recruit a Principal Financial Accountant in Brisbane for a hybrid role. You will oversee month-end activities, support annual financial statements and ensure CWIP and asset accounting integrity.

The role combines hands-on accounting with team leadership and technical advisory responsibilities, requiring strong communication with senior stakeholders and auditors.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in financial accounting within a complex organisation.
• Strong month-end accounting and financial reporting capabilities.
• Experience managing asset accounting and CWIP accounting.
• Ability to lead people and manage competing priorities.
• CPA/CA qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial ledger operations with a focus on month-end accounting.
• Manage data integrity and reporting across capital, asset and CWIP ledgers.
• Contribute expert advice to annual financial statements and coordinate with auditors.
• Oversee asset accounting, stocktakes and impairment assessments.
• Prepare financial and management reports and advise on significant accounting matters.
• Develop financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead and support team members and coordinate financial management projects.
