Job summary

u&u Recruitment Partners is partnering with a Queensland Government department to recruit an AO7 Principal Financial Accountant for a contract from 16 November 2026 to 26 March 2027, based in Brisbane CBD, paying $91.63 per hour. You will provide financial accounting expertise, technical advice and direction across the department’s financial operations.

The immediate focus is on month-end accounting, reporting to senior management and maintaining the integrity of capital, asset and CWIP

Qualifications

Degree in accounting or commerce; CA/CPA qualifications highly regarded.
Experience in month-end close, ledgers, and financial reporting.
Experience with asset accounting, CWIP, and data integrity.
Government department experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Overseeing month-end accounting activities and general ledgers.
Managing CWIP, asset accounting and data integrity.
Providing financial reporting and ad hoc analysis for senior management.
Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory reporting requirements.
Guiding teams and coordinating financial accounting activities.
Improving financial controls and internal processes.
