Job summary

South32 Group Operations Pty. Ltd. is seeking a Lead Finance professional to oversee GEMCO's finance function, ensuring financial discipline and sustainable value creation within a large, listed mining environment.

The role reports to the Manager Commercial and duties include budgeting, forecasts, cost insights, CAPEX advice, and coordinating with JV partners while building finance capability across the operation. FIFO from Cairns or Darwin on a 4:3 roster.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of finance experience in large, listed environments, preferably mining.
• Proven leadership of professional finance teams in complex operations.
• Strong cost analysis and capital expenditure management skills.
• Ability to collaborate across operational, commercial and corporate teams to align plans.

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Cairns or Darwin.

As the Lead Finance, reporting into the Manager Commercial, you will be responsible for overseeing GEMCO's finance function to support operational success, financial discipline and sustainable value creation.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Coordinate budgets, forecasts and strategic financial analysis.
• Provide cost insights and capital investment advice to inform decisions.
• Engage joint venture partners and maintain financial controls and compliance.
• Develop finance team capability and support continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• At least 10 years' finance experience in large, listed environments, preferably within mining and processing.
• Leadership and development of professional finance teams in complex operations.
• Cost analysis, capital expenditure management and financial risk assessment.
• Collaboration across operational, commercial and corporate teams to align financial plans with business goals.

Qualifications for this position are:

• Finance degree or equivalent.
• CA or CPA qualification, or equivalent.
