Job summary

GE HealthCare in Sydney is seeking a senior Field Service Engineer to install, maintain and troubleshoot MRI and CT systems across hospitals and clinics. You will lead complex service events, mentor junior engineers and coordinate with regional teams while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will provide expert technical support, manage escalations and drive customer satisfaction, with occasional regional travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Field Service Engineer in a customer-facing environment.
• Relevant electrical licence(s) as required by local regulatory requirements.
• Recognised technical expert in at least one modality with proficiency in others.
• Advanced technical knowledge of medical IT systems, hardware, OS, TCP/IP networking and device integration.
• Experience leading complex troubleshooting, escalations and installations.
• Coaching and mentoring of less experienced engineers.
• Strong service delivery and patient/customer-focused mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with root-cause analysis.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Current and valid driver’s licence.
• Current Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, configuration and commissioning of MRI and CT equipment to high quality and regulatory standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex faults using remote diagnostics and root-cause analysis.
• Perform advanced preventative maintenance activities.
• Own customer issues from identification to resolution and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Lead Level 2 escalations and support regional engineers on critical incidents.
• Manage customer communications during installations and service events.
• Execute Field Modification Instructions (FMIs) within timelines.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, parts management and asset tracking.
• Escalate recurring failures and advise on corrective actions to Service Management.
• Collaborate with account managers to support contract retention and service growth.
