Job summary

Hydra Search partnering with a growing engineering consultancy seeks a Lead Electrical Engineer with strong HV transmission experience to deliver detailed electrical design, studies and technical documentation.

The ideal candidate will lead electrical engineering solutions across HV transmission and substation projects, perform technical assessments, develop comprehensive design documentation, and liaise with clients and stakeholders. Australian citizen or permanent resident status is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a Power Systems or High Voltage focus.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior electrical engineering role within HV or transmission.
• Hands-on experience delivering detailed electrical studies and designs, not just reviews.
• Experience delivering primary electrical design across transmission lines, substations, switchyards or transmission and distribution infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of electrical engineering solutions across high-voltage transmission and substation projects.
• Undertake technical assessments and engineering analysis to support the design, specification and optimisation of HV infrastructure.
• Develop detailed design documentation, including electrical schematics, equipment schedules, technical specifications, calculations and construction deliverables.
• Perform specialist transmission line assessments covering thermal performance, insulation requirements, corona effects, audible noise and electromagnetic interference.
• Apply engineering expertise to the selection, specification and arrangement of HV primary plant and substation equipment.
• Take technical ownership of assigned project packages, ensuring engineering deliverables are accurate, practical and aligned with project requirements.
• Work closely with civil, structural, drafting and other engineering disciplines to resolve interfaces and develop coordinated project solutions.
• Liaise with clients, network operators, contractors and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate technical solutions.

• Experience delivering primary electrical design across transmission lines, substations, switchyards or transmission and distribution infrastructure.
