Job summary

Sedgman Prudentia is seeking a Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer for our Adelaide office. You will lead multidisciplinary projects in minerals processing and plant optimisation, reviewing drawings and providing commissioning support.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, 7–10 years in Australia, strong communication, and familiarity with Australian Standards. This role demands leadership and hands-on project delivery in a dynamic team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience as an Engineer in Australia.
  • Experience in heavy industry electrical and instrumentation design with drawings review and construction support.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain project documentation and design specifications.
  • Site experience including investigations, scoping, commissioning and contractor management.
  • Strong written and spoken English for client interaction.
  • Familiarity with Australian Standards.
  • Experience with early-stage studies for electrical/instrumentation systems.
  • Ability to lead studies and projects in a discipline lead capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and instrumentation studies and projects as discipline lead.
  • Review and mark up technical drawings; provide construction and commissioning support.
  • Prepare design specifications, reports, and work packs/scopes of work.
  • Manage site investigations, scoping, commissioning and contractor coordination.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.

About the Role

Sedgman Prudentia are currently seeking a Lead Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join our team at our Adelaide office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of multi-disciplinary projects, including those related to minerals processing and plant optimisation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience as an Engineer in Australia.
  • Experience in heavy industry electrical and instrumentation design, including reviewing and marking up technical drawings and providing construction and commissioning support.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, electrical and instrumentation design specifications, detailed designs, and work packs/scopes of work.
  • Site experience in investigations, scoping, commissioning, and contractor management.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required for this position, with good communication skills essential for regular client interaction.
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards.
  • Experience conducting early-stage studies for electrical and instrumentation systems, including proficiency in electrical system calculations.
  • Ability to lead studies and projects in a discipline lead capacity.
Desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge and experience working with heavy industry clients in minerals processing.
  • Registered/Chartered Engineer status.
  • Knowledge of control systems design.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary consultancy setting.
  • Familiarity with process safety and machine safety.
  • Experience with studies and (FEED).
  • Proficiency in workshop facilitation (HAZOP).
  • Project management skills.
  • Expertise in the design and specification of electrical and instrumentation equipment for hazardous areas.
  • Proficiency in hazardous areas design.
