Job summary

Canterbury College seeks a passionate Early Childhood Lead Educator for a full-time role caring for children aged 3–4 years in the Pre-Kindy classroom. You will lead the educational program, supervise play and learning, and partner with families to support development across key learning areas.

You will provide guidance to fellow educators, assist with planning, and help maintain a safe, nurturing environment aligned with National Quality Standards. An inclusive, collaborative team awaits.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care is the minimum requirement.
• Current First Aid and child safety certifications are expected.
• Positive Notice Blue Card required.
• Gecko Child Safety Training completed.
• Anaphylaxis and Asthma training.
• CPE training completed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the Pre-Kindy educational program.
• Maintain a safe and high-quality learning environment.
• Support other staff and assist with data entry and admin tasks as needed.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to learning resources.

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate Early Childhood Lead Educator. This is a full-time role looking after children aged 3-4 years old.

Key Responsibilities:

The Early Childhood Lead Educator is responsible for leading and delivering the educational program within the Pre-Kindy classroom, ensuring a high-quality learning environment that supports children's development across all key learning areas. The Lead Educator maintains a high level of supervision to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in their care. In addition, they provide practical support to teaching staff, assist with student learning, complete routine administrative tasks, and contribute to the organisation, presentation, and maintenance of the learning environment and resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

Run the program for the pre-kindy classroom

Support children’s learning and development through individual and small group activities.

Build positive relationships with children, families, teachers, and colleagues.

Prepare learning resources and complete administrative tasks including data entry, filing, and document preparation.

Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, break times, excursions, and special events.

Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment that meets National Quality Standards.

Provide guidance and support to fellow educators and step into the Responsible Person role when required.

Attend team meetings and assist with general operational duties as directed by the Head of Early Learning.

Essential Qualifications and Licenses

• Have a current Positive Notice Blue Card.
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care is the minimum requirement.
• First Aid, CPE, Anaphylaxis and Asthma
• Gecko Child Safety Training
• Must be willing to act as a responsible person when required
• Extra annual leave day per year (wild card day)
