Job summary

Mission Critical Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design for hyperscale data centre projects in Sydney and Melbourne. The role focuses on guiding design through concept, construction and commissioning with oversight of consultants and vendors.

The successful candidate will drive engineering briefs, ensure budget and schedule alignment, and maintain compliance with CSA/MEP standards and sustainability practices across complex facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Design Manager on large-scale data centre or similar projects.
• In-depth knowledge of CSA & MEP Design; strong structural knowledge preferred.
• Strong leadership and project management with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-disciplinary design from concept through construction and commissioning.
• Appoint engineering and design consultants and vendors.
• Develop engineering and design briefs.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors and client teams to meet objectives, timelines and budgets.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure high-quality design solutions.
• Review and approve design plans, specifications and drawings.
• Ensure compliance with local codes, industry standards and sustainability practices.
