Job summary

Billigence seeks a Lead Data Manager / Metadata Lead to drive metadata governance across high-value assets supporting analytics, automation, and AI initiatives. The role leads metadata governance activities, oversees a team of metadata specialists, and ensures assets are documented and managed to standards.

The successful candidate will drive metadata quality, oversee a team, and collaborate with business SMEs, data stewards, analysts and technical teams to align data assets with business needs

Qualifications

• Experience in metadata management, data governance, or leadership roles.
• Experience implementing ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata Registry Standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of enterprise metadata and data governance initiatives.
• Implement and maintain metadata standards, including ISO/IEC 11179.
• Develop metadata catalogues, glossaries, and data dictionaries.
• Prioritize high-value data assets for governance and AI readiness.
• Drive metadata quality, consistency, and standardization across systems.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with business SMEs, data stewards, analysts, and technical teams.
• Manage and mentor metadata registrars and developers.
• Monitor project delivery, risks, milestones, and reporting.
• Support data governance, data quality, and information management practices.
• Ensure metadata assets are fit for business, analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.

The successful candidate will lead metadata governance activities, oversee a team of metadata specialists, and ensure data assets are documented, governed, and managed in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead delivery of enterprise metadata and data governance initiatives.
• Implement and maintain metadata standards, including ISO/IEC 11179.
• Develop metadata catalogues, business glossaries, and data dictionaries.
• Identify and prioritize high-value data assets for governance and AI readiness.
• Drive metadata quality, consistency, and standardization across systems.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with business SMEs, data stewards, analysts, and technical teams.
• Manage and mentor metadata registrars and developers.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience in metadata management, data governance, or data management leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience implementing ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata Registry Standards.
• Strong understanding of: Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, Master Data Management, Information Management Frameworks
• Experience creating and managing: Business Glossaries, Data Catalogues, Data Dictionaries, Metadata Registries
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex data initiatives.
• Ability to operate strategically while maintaining delivery oversight.

Highly Desirable:

• Experience with enterprise metadata/catalogue tools such as: Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Similar metadata management platforms
