Job summary

The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking an EL1-level data engineering leader to design, develop and deliver scalable data solutions in a cloud-enabled data environment. You will drive the implementation of data pipelines, ensure security, governance and observability, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver robust data products for key organisational initiatives.

In this role you will mentor teams, promote best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement to meet current and future data

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and delivery of scalable, secure data solutions across a modern data environment.
• Drive batch and real-time data pipelines and integrations using the enterprise platform (Cloudera) to ensure reliable ingestion, storage and processing.
• Mentor teams, foster continuous improvement, and ensure production-ready delivery while aligning with governance and security requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, architects and cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into fit-for-purpose data products.
