Job summary

CommBank's Financial Crime Compliance team is seeking a hands-on Lead Data Engineer to deliver data engineering capabilities for AML/CTF and Transaction Monitoring. You will lead a small team of 3–4 engineers while contributing directly to production code and data pipelines.

You will work across Snowflake, dbt, IBM StreamSets and related tech to translate complex requirements into reliable, scalable solutions, setting engineering standards and driving delivery in a secured, controlled

Qualifications

• Proven senior/lead data engineer with experience leading a small team.
• Strong SQL and cloud data platform experience, ideally Snowflake.
• Hands-on ability to build and support production-grade data pipelines.
• Experience with dbt, data modeling and testing.
• Experience in financial services or AML/CTF is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise production-grade data pipelines and integration solutions.
• Lead and line-manage a small team of 3–4 data engineers.
• Lead delivery of ASB data engineering initiatives while contributing to codebase.
• Write high-quality SQL and dbt code and review team outputs.
• Ensure engineering standards are applied and drive technical direction.
