Intrepid Travel is hiring a Lead Data Engineer in Melbourne to shape the data foundations for our analytics, insights, and AI initiatives. This hybrid role blends hands-on technical leadership with strategic business partnering, focusing on modernising data systems and building scalable ingestion, modelling and transformation capabilities.

You will own data platform delivery, foster strong stakeholder relationships, and ensure trusted data foundations for better commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience building enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Experience designing and delivering modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience with data lifecycle: ingestion, transformation, analytics, consumption.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build and evolution of Intrepid's enterprise data platform.

Are you someone who is excited aboutshaping the data foundations behind the future of adventure travel?At Intrepid we’relooking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to design, build and evolve our enterprise data platform and engineering capability. Working closely with our data team, architects, engineers and seniorleaders, you’ll define thedirectionof our data ecosystem and build a scalable, secure and trusted platform thatelevates ouranalytics, reporting, insights and future AI initiatives.

This is a hybridrole which combineshands-on technical leadership and strategicbusiness partnering, where you’ll drive the modernisation and migration of legacy data systems, establish best practices, and build robust data ingestion, modelling and transformation capabilities. We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader who has provenexperience building enterprise-scale data solutions, strong SQL and Python skills, anda track record ofsuccessfully buildingand upgrading legacy data platforms. Most importantly, you’ll takeownership, build strong stakeholder relationships to influence, and be passionate about creatingtrusted data foundations that enable better commercial decision making.

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a hybrid work model(2 days from home),based in our centrally located Melbourne HQon Collins Street.

Some of the experience you’ll bring with you may include:

• 8+ years’ experience building and leading enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Proven success designing and delivering modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience across the full data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation through to analytics and consumption.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with data platform migration, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and infrastructure-as-code.
