Job summary

Glen Eira City Council invites an experienced Coordinator Cyber Defence to lead the council's cyber security defence capability. You will govern risk, threat detection and incident response while guiding improvements across security controls, technologies and external partnerships.

You will work with technology teams and stakeholders to build a proactive security culture and strengthen organisational resilience through practical guidance and leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience leading cyber security operations within a complex organisation
• Proven ability to drive threat detection, incident response and vulnerability management
• Strong governance, risk management and security control optimisation skills
• Ability to communicate cyber risk to executives and stakeholders
• Knowledge of ACSC Essential Eight, NIST CSF and ISO27001/27002 frameworks

Responsibilities

• Lead governance, risk management and threat/vulnerability management
• Oversee incident response plans, playbooks and procedures
• Manage security technologies (SIEM, XDR/EDR, cloud security)
• Coordinate external providers and security resources
• Develop practical security improvements to raise maturity and resilience
