Job summary

Legal Aid WA in Kununurra seeks an experienced criminal lawyer to lead its East Kimberley office for 12 months, with possible extension or permanency. You will manage a dedicated team delivering duty lawyer, casework, outreach and community legal education across a vast region.

This leadership role offers the chance to shape access to justice in remote communities, travel to circuit courts, and build strong relationships with courts, partner agencies and First Nations communities.

Qualifications

• Must have an undergraduate Law degree and be admitted or eligible for admission to practice in Western Australia.
• Experience leading a legal team in a regional setting is preferred.
• Criminal law experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Kununurra office and manage lawyers and administration staff.
• Oversee duty lawyer, casework, outreach and community legal education services.
• Coordinate travel to remote communities and circuit courts.
• Build relationships with courts, partner agencies and stakeholders.
