Job summary

BEC Engineering is an engineering consultancy delivering electrical engineering services to the mining, minerals processing, utilities and oil & gas industries. The role leads the delivery of engineering design, testing and supervisory services for mining and minerals processing projects.

You will build client relationships and lead projects from design through delivery, ensuring on-time, on-budget outcomes while aligning with safety and QA standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of engineering design, testing and supervisory services for clients in the mining, minerals processing and utilities sectors.
• Develop client relationships and lead projects from design and planning through to finalisation and delivery.
• Oversee control system design, PLC, HMI and SCADA programming, and equipment selection for major projects.
• Ensure on-time project delivery, scope, budget and quality in line with safety and QA standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, instrumentation and power groups for integrated design.
• Adhere to BEC Engineering safety culture and quality assurance systems.

BEC Engineering is an engineering consultancy that specializes in providing Electrical Engineering services to the mining, materials handling, industrial, utilities and oil & gas industries.

Position Scope

Core professional group member contributing to leadership and overall capability. Lead the delivery of engineering design, testing and supervisory services for clients in the mining, minerals processing and utilities sectors.

The experience we are seeking includes the capability to develop client relationships and lead projects from the design and planning stages right through to finalisation and delivery.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Control system design – leads detailed engineering design on projects; sets and maintains technical design and programming standards
• PLC, HMI & SCADA programming – sign-off authority on programming standards and architecture; reviews and approves complex code
• System analysis & modelling – directs analysis, modelling and design calculations on major projects
• Equipment selection & procurement – leads equipment strategy and supplier engagement on major projects
• Project delivery – accountable for on-time project delivery, scope, budget and quality
• Working with the electrical, instrumentation and power groups for integrated design
• Working to BEC’s safety culture and quality assurance systems

Career to date should have included;

• Control system design experience in minerals processing applications
• PLC, HMI and SCADA programming in minerals processing applications
• Experience with Schneider, Rockwell, GE (or similar) PLC and SCADA systems
• Programming device interfaces with communications protocols (such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Profibus, Profinet, EthernetIP)
• Development of functional specifications from P&IDs and design documentation
• Technical report writing
• Software simulation, bench testing and FAT
• On-site integration and commissioning, for green-fields and brown-fields operations
• Fault finding and diagnostics of operational control systems
• Experience leading team on complex projects and / or working solo on simpler applications.
• Experience in a consulting capacity
• Identifying and winning new business and expanding business through existing client relationships.

In addition to the above experience, candidates should have;

• Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering
• Professional membership of Institute of Engineers Australia.
• Un-restricted working rights for Australia. (BEC Engineering is unable to sponsor international engineers).
