Job summary

Aurecon in Adelaide, SA, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (Land Development) to lead land development and civil infrastructure design projects, combining technical excellence with project leadership.

You will mentor engineers, manage client relationships, collaborate with teams across South Australia and interstate, and ensure designs meet Australian and SA standards and approvals.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Experience in land development and/or civil infrastructure design.
• Desirable SA market experience.
• Strong understanding of SA Water standards & local approvals.
• Experience across full project lifecycle from design to construction.
• Strong communication & stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver land development and civil infrastructure design projects.
• Oversee the preparation of civil engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation.
• Provide technical leadership across roads, drainage, earthworks, water & sewer reticulation, site and industrial infra.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships including SA Water and councils.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and uplift team capability.
• Collaborate with South Australian and interstate teams (VIC, QLD, WA).

How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next?

In this senior role, you’ll lead the delivery of land development and civil infrastructure design projects, combining technical excellence with project and client leadership. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, you’ll help shape practical, high ‑ quality outcomes for a broad range of projects across civil, land and water infrastructure.

You’ll also play a key role in mentoring engineers within the team and building strong, long ‑ term client relationships, winning team workload and contributing to the continued growth of Aurecon’s Land Development capability. Here are the key things you’ll do to bring ideas to life:

• Lead and deliver land development and civil infrastructure design projects
• Oversee the preparation of civil engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation
• Provide technical leadership across: Roads, drainage, earthworks and municipal works, Water and sewer reticulation, Civil site and industrial infrastructure projects
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including SA Water, councils, and key authorities
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to team capability uplift
• Collaborate across South Australia and interstate teams (VIC, QLD, WA)
• Ensure designs comply with Australian and South Australian standards, council requirements and authority approvals

What we’re looking for:

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Strong experience in land development and/or civil infrastructure design
• Demonstrated experience working within the South Australian market (highly desirable)
• Strong understanding of: SA Water standards and requirements, l ocal council and authority approvals, p roven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers
• Experience across the full project lifecycle (design through to construction)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Technical capability:

• Design experience across roads, drainage, earthworks, utilities and civil infrastructure
• Proficiency in design tools such as 12D and/or AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of Australian standards and local SA authority requirements
