Job summary

Innovatus Projects is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter for a 12-month contract to deliver high-quality commercial fitouts. You will lead carpentry teams on-site, ensure safety compliance and timely project delivery, and balance technical skills with leadership to drive success.

The role requires 5–7 years of carpentry experience in commercial projects, strong reading of drawings, and a commitment to craftsmanship and workplace safety.

Qualifications

• Current White Card (or equivalent) and NSW driver's licence.
• Proven carpentry qualification (apprenticeship completion or equivalent).
• Minimum 5–7 years' experience as a carpenter in commercial builds.
• Experience supervising small to medium teams.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, Australian Standards, and WHS.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical fitness for carpentry work and site inspections.
• Sound decision-making under pressure; reliable and punctual.
• Experience with carpentry tools; First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate subcontractor teams to meet quality and timelines.
• Perform skilled carpentry including framework, fixtures, joinery and finishing.
• Interpret architectural drawings and specifications on-site.
• Lead toolbox meetings and guide team safety and project requirements.
• Monitor material use, tools, and equipment for efficiency and cost control.
• Liaise with project team and subcontractors to resolve on-site issues.
• Maintain detailed records of work, materials, and labour hours.
• Identify and report safety hazards per workplace regulations.
• Ensure all work complies with codes, standards, and contract requirements.
