Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Boilermaker Leading Hand to lead and support the boilermaker team at the Iron Bridge Mine. This hands-on role covers structural repairs and fabrication with a 14/7 FIFO roster in the Pilbara region, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

You will coordinate daily work, monitor task progress, mentor your team, and uphold high safety and quality standards while ensuring effective use of labour and resources.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent is required.
• Leading Hand experience in maintenance/workshop or breakdown environments.
• Open cut mining experience maintaining/heavy earthmoving fleet.
• Strong leadership, communication and task-prioritisation skills with safety at all times.
• Willingness to work 14/7 roster, 12-hour shifts; HR licence and high-risk licences desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear task updates and handovers to Maintenance Supervisor at shift change.
• Prioritise boilermaker activities and allocate labour and resources with Maintenance Supervisor.
• Coordinate daily labour assignments and communicate priorities at pre-start.
• Monitor progress and provide timely updates for safe, efficient task completion.
• Lead, mentor and support boilermakers to build capability and maintain productivity.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, workmanship, tooling and equipment care.
