Job summary

Department of Corrections in the Northern Territory is seeking a Lead Aboriginal Program Facilitator to co-facilitate group-based and individual offence-specific programs for prisoners. Qualifications

• Familiarity with best practices in assessing and rehabilitating Aboriginal people in custody.
• Strong written communication for reports and case notes.
• Excellent verbal communication with diverse client groups and stakeholders.
• IT skills with willingness to learn databases and MS Office tools.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate group-based or individual programs for prisoners with clinicians.
• Provide cultural brokerage and input into assessments and treatments.
• Address criminogenic risks in collaboration with clinicians.
• Offer cultural oversight to staff within Clinical Rehabilitation teams.
• Maintain accurate client case notes, records and statistics.
• Comply with management procedures and guidelines.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders for cohesive case management.
• Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development.
• Carry out duties as directed by the Manager Clinical Rehabilitation.
