Job summary

The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing in Ballarat seeks a Child Protection Practice Leader to guide Aboriginal Children transitioning to ACCOs, to expand either their case contracting program or their Aboriginal Children in Aboriginal Care program.

You will provide expert advice, support ACCOs, coordinate with child protection practitioners, and travel as required to ensure timely and culturally informed decision making and transfer of children to ACCOs.

Qualifications

• Experience leading child protection practice teams.
• Ability to work with Aboriginal communities and ACCOs.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and safety.

Responsibilities

• Practice leadership: translate best-practice principles into practice.
• Culturally informed practice and safety: lead across teams and programs.
• Child-centred and family-focused relationship-based practice at meetings.
• Collaboration: provide advice and guidance to stakeholders.
• Risk assessment and analysis: support broader sector and coach others.
• Case planning review and management: support cases with unacceptable risk.
