Job summary

Shine Lawyers in Parramatta seeks a Law Clerk or Solicitor to join our Disability & Superannuation Insurance practice on a permanent, full‑time basis. You’ll provide legal advice and representation to clients seeking insurance entitlements and contribute to strong client outcomes.

You’ll progress disability and superannuation claims, develop persuasive arguments, and assess case prospects while mentoring junior team members.

Qualifications

• Valid practising certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
• Completion or near completion of Bachelor of Laws.
• Experience in claims roles such as workers' compensation or life insurance is a plus.
• Desire to work long-term in disability and superannuation insurance.
• Strong understanding of legislation and legal documentation.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage client expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and representation on insurance entitlements.
• Progress disability and superannuation cases, litigated or non-litigated.
• Create persuasive arguments to advance disputed claims.
• Assess prospects of claims with clear commercial awareness.
• Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication.
• Prepare detailed legal documents and manage files responsibly.

The Opportunity

As a Law Clerk or Solicitor joining our litigated Disability and Superannuation Insurance practice on a permanent, full-time basis, based in our Parramatta office, you’ll be on the frontline as we doggedly seek justice. With compassion, connection and purpose, you’ll truly champion our clients by:

• Providing the legal advice and representation our clients need and deserve in relation to their insurance entitlements.
• Progressing and resolving disability and insurance superannuation litigated and non-litigated cases.
• Developing creative arguments to assist with progressing disputed claims.
• Effectively assessing the prospect of claims.
• Cultivating strong relationships with our clients through exceptional communication and clear management of expectations.
• Preparing legal documentation with a high degree of detail, and running a file load with a keen level of commercial and fiscal awareness.
• Working as one team and actively supporting and mentoring junior team members.

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll have:

• A valid practising certificate, or eligibility to soon receive one.
• Late-progression or completion of Bachelor of Laws.
• Experience working in a similar claims role (like workers compensation, life insurance, or similar) would make your application competitive.
• The desire to work with our clients in the disability and superannuation insurance space in a long-term capacity.
• A strong understanding of, and ability to interpret the relevant legislation and legal documentation.
• An innate ability to question, challenge the status quo and always stay ahead of the pack.
• Strong attention to detail.
