Job summary

Woollahra Council is seeking a Landscape Referral Officer to protect and enhance the urban forest through assessment of landscape and tree-related referrals for development applications. You will provide high-quality technical advice, work within timeframes, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

The ideal candidate holds AQF Level 5 or Diploma in Arboriculture, with strong tree assessment skills, experience reviewing technical reports, and the ability to present evidence

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in arboriculture at minimum AQF Level 5 (diploma).
• Technical knowledge of relevant Acts, planning instruments, arboriculture standards.
• Experience assessing development impacts on trees.
• Experience reviewing technical reports related to tree management.
• Experience giving evidence as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.
• Strong customer service and negotiation skills.
• Class C motor vehicle licence and commitment to EEO.

Responsibilities

• Assess and administer landscape and tree-related referrals for development applications.
• Provide high-quality technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure referrals are completed within required timeframes.
• Support compliance with legislation, standards, and best practices.
