Job summary

Urbis in Sydney seeks a Landscape Architect or Senior Landscape Architect to join our Design team. You will shape cities and places with strong interests in landscape, urban design, and placemaking, bringing 3D design skills including Revit and other software.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture at graduate or postgraduate level.
  • Minimum 3–5 years relevant experience in private practice, local council, or government.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas graphically using digital and hand-drawn methods.
  • Understanding of design principles and their application in urban environments.
  • Competent AutoCAD user and proficient with Adobe Suite; experience with 3D modelling tools desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in creative landscape and public realm design from concept to documentation.
  • Work on diverse projects including urban regeneration, transport, retail, open space, and town centres.
  • Prioritise multiple projects and manage deadlines under senior guidance.
  • Apply design principles to urban environments and develop informed insights.
  • Prepare visual aids, drawings, reports, and meeting notes with clear communication.
  • Convey design ideas across methods and platforms using freehand, Adobe, and CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to achieve commercial outcomes within budgets.

The Opportunity

Urbis has an exciting opportunity for a passionate Landscape Architect or Senior Landscape Architect to join our Design team in Sydney.

We're seeking someone passionate about shaping cities and places, with a strong interest in landscape, urban design, and placemaking. You'll bring great 3D design skills, including proficiency in Revit and other 3D software.

You Will
  • Participate in creative landscape and public realm design; and deliver input into multiple projects from concept stage through to design development, production, and documentation.
  • Work across a wide range of project types from individual sites, inner city urban regeneration, transport and infrastructure, retail, open space parklands, waterfronts, commercial developments, and town centres.
  • Prioritise multiple projects and deadlines and manage project involvement under the guidance of the Directors, Associate Directors, and Project Managers.
  • Bring an understanding of design principles and methods and the ability to apply them in the urban environment.
  • Problem solve and develop objective and informed insights to aid the design process.
  • Utilise excellent verbal and written communication skills in preparing visual aids/drawings, report preparation, preparation of meeting notes, correspondence etc.
  • Visually and creatively communicate key design ideas and outcomes in clear and succinct way across a range of methods and platforms including a mix of advanced skills in freehand drawing, the Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD.
  • Work alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, in relation to client briefs, deadlines and budgets towards a suitable commercial outcome
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture at a graduate or post graduate level
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years relevant experience, ideally gained in a private practice or with local council or government.
  • Communicates graphically at a proficient level using both digital and hand drawn formats to convey design ideas, concepts and documentation
  • Brings an understanding of design principles and methods and the ability to apply them in the urban environment.
  • Is a competent and efficient AutoCAD user and is a competent and efficient user of relevant components of the Adobe Suite, AutoCAD.
  • Experience using Revit, SketchUp, Rhino and other 3D modelling software desirable.
  • Engages in cross-team communication and solution development to help inform outcomes and project delivery.
