Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking a Systems Engineer – Land Capability to drive the design, integration and sustainment of complex Defence land systems. You will own systems work packages, develop architectures and support ILS activities across the lifecycle, collaborating with engineering, project teams and external partners.

This role requires approximately 5–8 years of experience in systems engineering within Defence, familiarity with MBSE tools and DOORS, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Qualifications

• Capable Systems Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in Defence or similarly complex environments.
• Experience across requirements, architecture/design, integration, verification and validation, and configuration/change management.
• Familiarity with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools and MBSE tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical workstreams desirable.

Responsibilities

• Apply systems engineering lifecycle principles across conception to support.
• Define and manage requirements for Land Capability systems and components.
• Develop and maintain system and subsystem architecture and interfaces.
• Prepare material for system reviews and present outcomes to stakeholders.
• Support system integration, verification, testing, and sustainment activities.
• Contribute to risk analysis and major project reviews.
• Maintain Land Capability baselines and CM/CMCA assets.
• Collaborate with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
