Job summary

G-Solar & Electrical is seeking reliable Labourers and Trade Assistants with solar experience to join installation teams across Cairns and Far North Queensland. You will support electricians and solar installers on rooftop and ground-level tasks, handling panels, batteries, and materials while maintaining safety and organization.

This outdoor role requires a practical approach, willingness to follow instructions, and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• Construction White Card and a valid Driver's Licence are required for site access and mobility.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform manual handling, including rooftop tasks.
• Reliability and punctuality; strong teamwork in a field install environment.
• Previous solar experience is preferred but not mandatory, with safety emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Assist electricians and solar installers with rooftop and ground-level tasks.
• Load, unload and move solar panels, batteries, tools and materials safely.
• Prepare work areas and organise tools and equipment for each job.
• Carry out general labouring duties, including site clean-up and waste removal.
• Keep vehicles, tools and equipment clean, organized and ready for use.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment; report hazards.

About the roles

You’ll work alongside our qualified electricians and solar installers, providing practical support to help projects run safely and efficiently.

These are active, outdoor roles involving manual handling and rooftop work. You’ll need a practical approach, a willingness to follow instructions and a strong commitment to safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assist electricians and solar installers with solar and battery installations, providing rooftop and ground-level support within your training.
• Load, unload and safely move solar panels, batteries, tools and installation materials.
• Prepare work areas and organise tools, equipment and materials for each job.
• Carry out general labouring duties, including site clean-up, waste removal and packing up equipment.
• Keep work vehicles, tools and equipment clean, organised and ready for use.
• Follow workplace safety procedures, use the required protective equipment and report hazards promptly.

What you’ll need

• A current Construction White Card.
• A current driver’s licence.
• Reliability, punctuality and the ability to work well in a team.
• The ability to safely carry out manual handling and outdoor work, including working at heights.

Preferred, but not essential

• Previous experience working in solar.
• Working at Heights qualification.
• Forklift licence.
• EWP ticket for equipment under 11 metres.
