Job summary

Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI) in Queensland is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to support technical and research operations across the PC2 laboratories and Human Body Visualisation teaching spaces at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

You will lead and coordinate the operation, optimization and continuous improvement of specialist laboratory equipment, provide high-level troubleshooting, and ensure safety and quality across all users and activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the operation, optimisation and continuous improvement of specialist research laboratory equipment and associated services, acting as the primary technical resource in the absence of the Laboratory Manager.
• Monitor and promote compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements across all laboratory users and activities, proactively identifying and addressing non-compliance risks.
• Coordinate, deliver and evaluate laboratory inductions, equipment training programmes and competency assessments to ensure ongoing user compliance and capability.
• Provide high-level technical expertise and independent troubleshooting for complex equipment, laboratory processes and research protocols.
