Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Central Specimen Reception. The role is an ongoing full-time position responsible for receiving, sorting, preparing and transporting specimens, and assisting with registrations and general lab duties across Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north campuses.

The successful candidate will work within a busy team, participate in an on-call roster, and may cover overnight shifts including weekends and public holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience and good working knowledge of data entry and general laboratory tasks.
• Proven ability to work as a part of team.
• Demonstrated ability to work an overnight shift that involves working weekends and public holidays.
• Participate in the on-call roster.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, sorting, preparing and transporting specimens for analysis.
• Register pathology requests into the laboratory information system.
• Perform laboratory investigations and general laboratory duties as directed by senior staff.
