Job summary

Crowne Plaza Adelaide is hiring a Kitchen Hand to support our kitchen team by cleaning and sterilising surfaces, maintaining cold storage, receiving deliveries and assisting chefs with basic prep. This is a physically demanding role requiring standing for long periods and safe manual handling.

You should bring a positive attitude, strong communication, a passion for service, and the flexibility to work across a rotating roster, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Hospitality or hotel experience preferred.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Must be on feet most of the day with safe manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sterilise kitchen surfaces and equipment.
• Maintain food storage areas (freezers, refrigerators).
• Receive and organise deliveries to the kitchen.
• Support chefs with basic prep tasks.
• Remove waste and wash dishes.

Job description

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

• Cleaning and sterilising countertops, walls, stoves, ovens, grills, sinks and cooking equipment
• Maintaining food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators
• Receiving and organising deliveries to the kitchen
• Supporting the chefs and other kitchen staff in basic food preparation, cutting, peeling, and washing
• Removing kitchen waste and washing dirty dishes

• A passion for delivering great service
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Previous experience in a hotel environment beneficial
• Experience working as part of a team and working to deadlines
• It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so attention to safe manual handling is a must; including occasional lifting/push/pull of heavy items and you may need to bend and kneel to complete some activities
• High standard of cleanliness and safety at work
• The flexibility to work across a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Compliance - must hold a Food Safety Certificate
• Meet the legal requirement to work in Australia without limitations or restrictions
