Job summary

Busy Bees Tamworth is seeking a reliable and organised Kitchen Hand to support the daily operation of the kitchen at Busy Bees Tamworth. Working alongside the centre’s Cook or Chef, you will help maintain a clean, safe and well‑organised kitchen while supporting the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for children aged from birth to five years.

This is a permanent part‑time position with 15 hours per week, based in Tamworth, NSW. Monday–Friday daytime hours with no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen or hospitality experience preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a busy kitchen.
• NSW Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
• Wash dishes and kitchen utensils and maintain hygiene.
• Keep a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
• Support with food storage, stock rotation and kitchen organisation.
• Follow safe food handling and allergy management procedures.
• Receive and store kitchen supplies, and collaborate with centre staff.
• Follow centre policies relating to child safety and workplace safety.

We’re seeking a reliable and organised Kitchen Hand to support the daily operation of the kitchen at Busy Bees at Tamworth. Working alongside the centre’s Cook or Chef, you will help maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen while supporting the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for children aged from birth to five years.

This is a permanent part-time position working 15 hours per week , based in Tamworth, NSW.

What you’ll do

• Assist with basic food preparation and the serving of meals and snacks
• Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised kitchen environment
• Support the Cook or Chef with food storage, stock rotation and kitchen organization
• Follow safe food handling, allergy management and hygiene procedures
• Assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies
• Work collaboratively with the Centre Leadership Team and educators
• Follow all centre policies relating to child safety, food safety and workplace health and safety

What you’ll bring

• A genuine commitment to child safety, speaking up, always doing the right thing and aligning with our Busy Bees values
• Previous experience working in a kitchen, hospitality, catering or food service environment
• Knowledge of safe food handling, kitchen hygiene and cleaning practices
• An understanding of allergies, dietary requirements and cross-contamination risks
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• A reliable, positive and collaborative approach
• The ability to complete the physical requirements of the role, including standing, cleaning and safely handling kitchen equipment
• A valid NSW Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
