Job description
Kindergarten Teacher in the Kimberley, 2026!

An exciting opportunity awaits for an engaging and adaptable Kindergarten Teacher at a small, community-led school in the Kimberley. This role is ideal for an educator eager to embrace new experiences while making a meaningful impact.

Located approximately three hours from Derby, the school was founded on the community's desire for autonomy over their children's education, ensuring their culture, kinship, and traditional values remain at the heart of learning. Governed by local people, the school has 70 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 10, with class sizes of 6-15 students. You will collaborate with Aboriginal Educators in a team-teaching approach, delivering culturally relevant lessons within the Western Australian curriculum. Students speak English as a second or third language, with Kriol, Nyikina, and Walmajarri commonly spoken at home. A deep appreciation for Aboriginal ways of life and a willingness to learn from and engage with the local community are essential for this role.

The community has a clinic, a Health and Aged Care (HAC) kitchen and office, community store, football oval and basketball courts.

This is a full-time position for 2026. Having your own vehicle is strongly recommended. There is the possibility of employment for partners. There is also a pre-primary, Year 1/2, Year 5/6 and secondary position available.

  • Free utilities and Wi-Fi
  • Remote living allowance of $2,000 per annum, paid pro-rata fortnightly
  • $5,000 for relocation
  • Long service leave after 4 years
