Job summary

Central Coast Grammar School seeks a Director of Music Performance to provide strategic and operational management of the K–12 music program, including instrumental and choral ensembles and cocurricular activities. Reporting to the Head of Music, you will lead staff, coordinate programs, and deliver high-quality musical experiences across the School, with flexibility for tours and events.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Music, Music Education, Performance, or a closely related field.
• Postgraduate qualification in Music Education, Conducting, or Arts Administration would be well regarded.
• Experience working in a K-12 independent school setting.
• Successful experience directing and conducting school music ensembles, orchestras, concert bands, or choirs and oversight of a cocurricular music program.
• Leadership or program coordinator experience in an educational, community or professional arts setting.
• High standard of competency and innovation
• Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills across the school community
• Efficient administrative skills with flexibility and adaptability
• Ability to prioritise and work as part of a team
• Commitment to the strategic direction of the School

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed a consistent, high-quality performance philosophy and rehearsal style across all K-12 instrumental and choral ensembles.
• Foster student independence and achievement while aligning from Kindergarten to Year 12 across all skill levels.
• Create an inspiring, supportive, and rigorous music performance environment that nurtures creativity, communication, and collaboration.
• Lead cocurricular music programs, include tours and events, and coordinate a professional-standard calendar of events.
