Strathcona Girls Grammar is seeking a passionate Junior School Visual Arts Teacher for a 0.5 FTE fixed-term role starting Term 1 2027. You will design engaging, differentiated Visual Arts lessons and collaborate with the Art Department to align curriculum and prepare for the annual Art Exhibition.

You will contribute to reflective practice, career-long learning and a positive school culture, supporting girls’ education and contemporary teaching practices within a strong learning community.

• Knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 relevant to Art learning area.
• Experience designing, developing and implementing curricula and learning programs.
• Evidence of high-quality teaching practice and improving student outcomes.
• Strong ICT capability and integration of digital tools in lessons.
• Collaborative approach within Art Department and broader teaching team.
• Postgraduate study or progression toward further qualification is highly regarded.

Strathcona Girls Grammar is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Junior School Visual Arts Teacher to join our learning community on a 0.5FTE part-time, fixed-term basis, starting in Term 1 2027. This is an opportunity to inspire students through engaging Visual Arts experiences while contributing to a cohesive and contemporary Art curriculum and the School’s annual Visual Arts and Design Exhibition.

About the role

You will:

Design and deliver engaging, contemporary and differentiated learning experiences that foster creativity and improve student learning outcomes.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, implement and review high-quality teaching and learning programs.

Collaborate with members of the Art Department to ensure curriculum alignment, shared expectations and progression across year levels.

Develop meaningful learning activities, assessments and feedback that support student growth.

Actively contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the School’s annual Visual Arts and Design Exhibition.

Work collaboratively with Art Department colleagues on the exhibition, contributing to its broader planning and delivery.

Engage in reflective practice, professional dialogue and continuous improvement, an contribute positively to the broader community of Strathcona.

About you

You will be an engaging and reflective educator who brings a genuine passion for Art education and enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues.

You will demonstrate:

Knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 relevant to your learning area.

Experience in curriculum design, development and implementation.

Evidence of high-quality teaching practice and improving student learning outcomes.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families.

An understanding of contemporary learning theory and practice, particularly in relation to girls’ education.

Knowledge of the AITSL Standards for Teaching.

Strong ICT capability.

Experience coordinating Art exhibitions and contributing to the planning and delivery of Visual Arts and Design exhibitions.

A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of an Art Department and broader teaching team.

Current Full or Provisional Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.

Relevant postgraduate study, or progress towards a further qualification, will be highly regarded.
