Job summary

Somerville House seeks an Associate Chaplain to provide Christian leadership and spiritual guidance within a girls' school community. The role focuses on Junior School with senior school reach, collaborating with the Senior Chaplain to nurture faith, wellbeing and inclusive learning.

The successful candidate will teach Christian Education aligned to the Australian Curriculum, engage large groups, and contribute to a caring pastoral environment with a strong teamwork ethos.

Qualifications

• Hold current Queensland College of Teacher registration or be eligible for registration.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in education.
• Experience teaching Christian Education.
• Ability to engage large groups of students in the Christian message.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a teaching team.
• Commitment to Christian faith and church involvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide Christian leadership and age-appropriate spiritual guidance.
• Nurture the spiritual life of the school, in Junior and Senior School.
• Teach Christian Education in alignment with the Australian Curriculum.
• Collaborate with staff and the Senior Chaplain; support pastoral care.
• Attend a Christian church regularly and contribute to the faith community.
• Ensure child safety priorities in all duties.
• Position commences 1 January 2027 on a fixed-term basis for five years.
