Job summary

Austal is seeking a Junior ILS Engineer based in Henderson, Western Australia, to support the Maritime Integrated Logistics Support program. You will perform ILS analyses, develop maintenance instructions, and assist with spares determinations alongside a collaborative project team.

You will contribute to reliability improvements, data maintenance across logistics platforms, and the preparation of MTIs and support artefacts, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience in an Integrated Logistics Support role
• Preferable experience with DEF(AUST) 5691 LSA standard
• Experience with Australian Defence Force or Australian Border Force
• Defence Security Clearance eligibility (Defence)

Responsibilities

• Perform ILS analysis activities including reliability assessments and maintenance task analysis
• Develop and deliver ILS outputs such as reports and maintenance instructions
• Support maintenance engineers by investigating deficiencies and improving asset reliability
• Conduct spares analysis and maintain spares listings
• Maintain data across logistics systems such as AMOS or DW platforms
• Contribute to Engineering Change Proposals with logistics implications
• Collaborate with project teams to deliver integrated support outcomes
• Prepare and update MTIs, support plans, and logistics artefacts
• Assist obsolescence monitoring to sustain system performance
• Provide input to provisioning and inventory optimisation for readiness and cost efficiency
• Ensure ILS activities comply with contracts, defence policies, and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement of ILS processes and reporting methodologies
• Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

Based in Henderson the Junior ILS Engineerwill be responsible for supporting the delivery of maritime acquisition Integrated Logistic Support Program, with activities such as maintenance requirement determination, inventory and spares analysis, operation and maintenance task analysis and support development of ILS product deliverables.

What’s Involved

• Perform Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analysis activities including reliability assessments, logistics support analysis, maintenance task analysis, and spares determination.
• Develop and deliver ILS outputs such as analytical reports, technical documentation, maintenance instructions, and support artefacts.
• Support ILS/Maintenance Engineers in investigating maintenance issues to identify deficiencies and improve asset reliability and maintainability.
• Undertake spares analysis activities, including the development and maintenance of spares listings and associated reporting.
• Maintain configuration control and ensure data accuracy across logistics systems such as AMOS, DW, or equivalent platforms.
• Contribute to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), including evaluation of logistics implications arising from system modifications.
• Liaise and collaborate with Project team, engineering, supply, maintenance and training stakeholders to deliver integrated support outcomes.
• Prepare, review, and update technical documentation including Maintenance Task Instructions (MTIs), support plans, and related logistics deliverables.
• Support obsolescence monitoring and mitigation activities to sustain long-term system performance and availability.
• Provide analytical input to provisioning and inventory optimisation activities to achieve the balance between readiness and cost efficiency.
• Ensure all ILS activities are conducted in accordance with contractual obligations, defence policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives for ILS processes, tools, and reporting methodologies.
• Maintain effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders to support coordinated delivery of ILS outcomes

You’ll Need

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or related discipline
• 3+ years’ experience in an Integrated Logistics Support role
• Preferable experience working with DEF(AUST) 5691 Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) standard.
• Relevant experience working with Australian Defence Force or Australian Boarder Force
• Eligibility for a Defence Security Clearance
