Job summary

Life Insurance Partners Pty Ltd – Surry Hills NSW is hiring a junior developer to join our team building and running the core CRM platform. The stack is Python (Django) backend with a React/TypeScript frontend, on AWS with PostgreSQL and Auth0 for security. Full stack experience is ideal, with a willingness to learn the other side.

Early tasks focus on reducing the backlog of support tickets to understand the codebase and user workflows, then move into feature work with the rest of the team.

Qualifications

• A degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Commercial software development experience on backend and frontend (Python/React ideal).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Cloud experience with AWS; other clouds considered.
• Experience in agile teams.
• Willingness to learn and take responsibility in a flat team.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Work through support tickets and defects to learn the codebase.
• Build and ship features end to end in Python and React.
• Use Claude AI tools as part of the workflow and manage coding agents.
• Participate in agile planning, estimation, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Manage AWS deployments and infra as code with Terraform.
• Follow GitHub workflow from branching to automated tests.
• Design and query PostgreSQL relational data structures.
• Contribute to code reviews, testing and documentation.
• Grow ownership of product areas and defend design decisions.
