Job summary

Domain Structures in Melbourne is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our team on-site in Epping. The role focuses on day-to-day AP/AR, supplier invoices and project accounting, with mentoring from a Senior Accountant to help you grow toward a Senior Accountant position.

You will develop your skills in a construction/project-based environment, learn month-end processes, and contribute to budget monitoring while building a long-term career path.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AP and AR experience.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proactive, with ability to complete tasks and learn.
• Experience with MYOB or Xero is desirable for a construction/project-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounts payable and receivable.
• Process supplier invoices, payments and subcontractor claims.
• Reconcile bank, credit card and supplier accounts.
• Assist with month-end reporting, journals and financial records.
• Support project accounting, job costing and budget monitoring.
• Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to grow into a more senior role.

Domain Structures is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our team in Epping.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous accounts payable and accounts receivable experience who wants to build on their existing skills, broaden their accounting knowledge and develop a pathway towards becoming a Senior Accountant.

What you'll be doing

• Managing day-to-day accounts payable and receivable
• Processing supplier invoices, payments and subcontractor claims
• Following up outstanding accounts and resolving discrepancies
• Completing bank, credit card and supplier reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end reporting, journals and financial records
• Supporting project accounting, job costing and budget monitoring
• Working closely with our Senior Accountant to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility over time

What we're looking for

• Hands-on AP and AR experience
• A good understanding of basic accounting principles
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems
• A proactive approach, with the ability to follow tasks through to completion
• Someone eager to learn, take ownership and grow into a more senior accounting role
• Previous experience with accounting software (MYOB, Xero, or similar) is desirable as is experience in construction or another project-based industry. Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, initiative, and desire to develop.
