Job summary

The Supreme Court of Victoria seeks an Associate to the Honourable Justice Gorton in the Common Law Division, commencing December 2026. You will support the judge with case preparation, legal research, and management of court materials in a high‑level trial and appellate environment.

You must be law qualified with 1–2 years post admission experience; exceptional proofreading and writing skills; and a strong academic record.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified in Law with 1–2 years post admission experience.
• Exceptional proofreading and writing skills, proficiency in grammar and an excellent academic record is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with the legal profession, public and media are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the production of judgments, including proofreading and editing.
• Reviewing files and orders.
• Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining court records and preparing material for use by the judge in court.
• Preparing research memoranda.
• Traveling on circuit when required.
• Liaising with court staff, the public, the media and the profession.
