WIN Network is seeking an experienced journalist for its WIN News service based in Darwin. You will research, compile and produce high-quality news stories for weekday bulletins, liaising with editors and camera operators to ensure deadlines and standards are met.

This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, reporting to the National News Director. Candidates should have a journalism qualification with at least one year of experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of local, national

Qualifications

  • University journalism qualification with at least one year experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin.
  • Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community.
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of media law.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines through effective time management.
  • Capacity to operate in a team environment, contributing positively to working relationships.
  • Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility.
  • Positive work ethic, and the ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes.

Responsibilities

About the role:

We are currently seeking an experienced journalist for our WIN News service, based in Darwin. Working in a regional newsroom offers an experience like no other, allowing you the opportunity to take ownership of your market and report on all rounds. In areas such as the environment, sport, politics, you name it - you have the control to make a difference within the community. This environment allows you to make a difference in news and is truly rewarding work.

Reporting to the National News Director, you will be responsible for researching, compiling and producing high quality news stories for our weekday news bulletins. You'll liaise with editors and camera operators to ensure our bulletins meet deadline and are of the highest standards. This is a full-time position, working Monday - Friday.

About you:
  • A university qualification in journalism with at least one year experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to compile a ratings winning bulletin
