Job summary

Restive in Melbourne is seeking a mid-level Java engineer to join a major technology transformation. You will build a cloud-native platform, create microservices, and connect an OMS with data and services in a domain-driven architecture.

Work is hybrid: three days in office, two remote, focusing on performance, scalability on AWS, REST APIs, event-driven interfaces, and collaboration with a Senior Engineering Lead.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java.

• Extensive experience in retail and across B2B, ordering or supply-chain platforms.
• Experience building and consuming APIs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high-quality Java/Spring Boot microservices
• Build the middleware layer connecting the OMS with business data and services
• Develop and integrate REST APIs and event-driven services
• Design solutions within a domain-driven, clean architecture
• Build scalable and resilient services on AWS
• Integrate systems across ordering, product, pricing and supply-chain domains
• Work with existing legacy systems while new platform capabilities are progressively introduced
• Contribute to technical design, development and architectural decisions
• Collaborate closely with the Senior Engineering Lead and wider engineering team
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested production code
• Troubleshoot complex integration and distributed-system issues
• Help deliver the platform through to the February development-complete target

This is open to Melbourne-based candidates only. The is a full-time role on a hybrid work arrangement, working three days in the office and two days remotely.

About The Role

We're looking for Mid-level Engineers to join a major technology transformation, building a modern, cloud-native platform that will sit at the heart of a new B2B ordering ecosystem.

The organisation is moving away from a bespoke legacy core towards a clean, domain-driven architecture, with the new platform spanning areas such as pricing, product information, order management and supply chain.

You'll be part of the team building the middleware and integration layer between a modern off-the-shelf Order Management System (OMS) and the data and services it needs to operate.

The platform will expose APIs and event-driven interfaces, connect multiple business domains and systems, and support sophisticated B2B ordering workflows, including pre-agreed stock drawdowns and commercial ordering arrangements.
