Job summary

A technology consulting firm is seeking a Senior Technology Consultant in Sydney. Job description

Role Overview

As the Senior Technology Consultant, you'll play a critical role in supporting a complex mix of cloud and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring seamless business operations across the organisation. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to both IT and business stakeholders, resolving advanced technical issues and contributing to the delivery of key transformation projects.

This is a leadership position within the IT team, mentoring Level 2 support and delivering strategic and operational value through technical expertise, strong communication, and a proactive mindset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deploy scalable, reliable and secure systems (cloud & on-prem)
  • Provide Level 3 support across infrastructure and business-critical systems
  • Implement and optimise Microsoft 365, Azure, server and desktop environments
  • Lead or contribute to projects (e.g. migrations, upgrades, secure access solutions)
  • Automate workflows using scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Maintain system performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues
  • Enforce security best practices including Conditional Access, DLP, MFA, and Zero Trust
  • Manage servers, storage, networks, and virtualisation infrastructure (VMware/Hyper-V)
  • Document processes and train junior staff
  • Ensure SLA compliance and continuous improvement in IT operations
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of systems administration, with 3+ years in a senior role
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Windows or Linux administration
    • Microsoft 365 (Intune, Azure AD, SharePoint, Teams)
    • Microsoft Server technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP)
    • Azure platform (Virtual Desktop, Storage, AD Connect, Conditional Access)
    • Network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPNs, routing, switching, Wi-Fi)
    • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
    • Security best practices, Microsoft Purview, DLP
    • Firewalls, Radius, MFA, SSO
    • Citrix and virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)
    • Exposure to ISO security frameworks
    • Experience with Zero Trust implementation
