Job summary

Kinexus in Canberra partners with a defence technology business seeking an IT Manager to advise on IT strategy, lead IT transformation projects and support delivery as the organisation grows. The role offers potential growth in IT leadership across the business.

You will work with senior stakeholders, lead IT initiatives, perform hands-on ICT work and manage day-to-day IT operations including cybersecurity and vendor management, with a strong emphasis on security clearances.

Qualifications

• NV1 or NV2 security clearance is essential.
• Broad ICT background across IT systems, networks and infrastructure.
• Defence experience, whether in uniform or in the Australian Public Service.
• Experience leading IT initiatives or project management.
• Senior stakeholder engagement experience and willingness to present ideas to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior stakeholders on IT and decisions on IT operating structure.
• Lead IT projects in the business, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to deliver IT initiatives.
• Perform hands-on ICT work installing, configuring and maintaining IT infrastructure, systems and network environment.
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations including infrastructure, networks, vendor management, IT service continuity and cybersecurity.

We have partnered with a defence technology business, who has recently taken on large programs of work in the counter-UAS space, driving significant and sustainable growth in the organisation. This organisation is looking at transforming the way they operate and running multiple ICT programs and initiatives aiming to elevate their internal technology operations.

The IT Manager is responsible for advising the business on IT, leading IT transformation projects and supporting the delivery of those projects. As the business grows, this role has the potential to see significant growth in leadership of IT across the entire business.

In this role you will:

• Work with senior stakeholders in the business, advising them on IT and supporting decisions on the direction on the operating structure of IT in the business.
• Lead IT projects in the business, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on a range of IT initiatives.
• Technical, hands‑on ICT work installing, configuring and maintaining IT infrastructure, systems and network environment.
• Day to day IT operations looking after infrastructure, networks, vendor management, IT service continuity and cybersecurity.

What's needed from you:

• A NV1 or NV2 security clearance is an essential requirement for this role, anyone not holding this clearance cannot be considered.
• A broad ICT background across IT systems, networks and infrastructure in an IT services or operations environment.
• A background in Defence, whether that be in uniform or working within the Australian Public Service.
• Experience in leading IT initiatives or project management.
• Senior stakeholder engagement experience and a willingness to suggest and present ideas to senior business stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
