Aerometrex in Australia seeks a hands‑on technology people leader to guide infrastructure, cyber security, software engineering and technology operations. The role emphasizes delivery, reliability and practical leadership across teams, with exposure to executives and incident response.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support, troubleshoot and improve critical on‑premises infrastructure, including servers, networks, backups, storage and disaster recovery environments
• Work alongside direct reports to deliver key infrastructure, cyber security, systems and technology improvement projects
• Respond to operational issues and incidents, including hands‑on support for system outages
• Strengthen reliability, performance and security of technology environments
• Provide practical technical leadership across infrastructure, systems, cyber security and operations
• Build capability within the technology team through coaching and delivery

About the Role

We are looking for a hands‑on technology people leader who enjoys being close to the detail, solving practical problems and delivering work alongside their team. This role leads our technology function across infrastructure, cyber security, software engineering and technology operations, with a strong focus on systems engineering, operational delivery and hands‑on technical leadership.

This is a highly practical leadership role. While you will help shape the longer‑term technology roadmap, the immediate focus is on delivery, reliability and improvement.

This role would suit someone who is comfortable switching between people leadership and hands‑on delivery, from coaching team members and working with executives, to helping troubleshoot infrastructure issues, improving systems, supporting incident response and strengthening the technology foundations that keep the business running.

Key Responsibilities

• Support, troubleshoot and improve critical on‑premises infrastructure, including servers, networks, backups, storage and disaster recovery environments
• Work alongside direct reports to deliver key infrastructure, cyber security, systems and technology improvement projects
• Respond to operational issues and incidents, including hands‑on support for system outages, infrastructure failures and urgent technology priorities
• Strengthen the reliability, performance and security of the technology environments that support our products and operations
• Provide practical technical leadership across infrastructure, systems, cyber security and technology operations
• Build capability, confidence and accountability within the technology team through coaching, support and working closely with the team on delivery
• Develop and maintain a practical technology roadmap that supports business priorities, future growth and scalable technology foundations
• Improve cyber security, resilience, business continuity, risk management and operational standards across the technology function
• Manage technology vendors, contracts, licensing and service providers to support reliable and cost‑effective delivery
• Partner with leaders across the business to understand priorities, solve practical problems and deliver technology solutions that support day‑to‑day operations
• Provide clear advice and recommendations to senior leaders on technology priorities, risks, investment decisions and future opportunities

About You

You are a pragmatic technology leader who enjoys solving problems, improving systems and making a meaningful impact. You are equally comfortable discussing strategy with executives as you are working through infrastructure priorities, reviewing architecture decisions or supporting your team through technical challenges.

You understand that great technology leadership is about creating clarity, building confidence and helping teams do their best work. You may bring experience across some or all of the following areas:

• Leading technology, ICT, infrastructure or engineering teams
• On‑premise infrastructure, servers, networking, storage and backup environments
• Cloud platforms such as Azure and/or AWS
• Cyber security, risk management, business continuity and disaster recovery
• Systems administration, platform management and technology operations
• Software engineering teams, DevOps practices or technology‑enabled product delivery
• Vendor management, contracts and technology budgeting
• Building capability and supporting the development of strong technical teams
• Technology strategy, governance and operational improvement
• Diagnosing complex technical issues and providing practical solutions
• Working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Experience within geospatial technology, aerial imagery, LiDAR or spatial data environments would be advantageous but is not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead, collaborate, deliver practical outcomes and help technology continue to grow in line with the business.
