Job summary

Torres Strait Island Regional Council (TSIRC) is seeking a hands-on Engineering Officer to join the Engineering Services team on Yorke Island. You will contribute to delivering and maintaining essential community infrastructure that supports health, safety and wellbeing across the Torres Strait region.

This role covers civil works, water and wastewater operations, waste management, airport and marine facility maintenance, and general infrastructure upkeep, with a focus on safety and service

Qualifications

• Mandatory Current C class, Type Provisional or higher Queensland Drivers licence (Open) and not expired is esssential. No Learner's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair community infrastructure including roads, parks, stormwater systems, marine facilities, and public amenities.
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of water supply and wastewater treatment systems, ensuring safe and reliable services.
• Support landfill and waste collection operations in line with environmental guidelines.
• Conduct airport and seaport inspections and maintenance in accordance with relevant regulations.
• Operate plant, machinery, tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor infrastructure conditions and report defects promptly.
• Respond to maintenance issues and breakdowns to minimise service disruptions.
