About Us

Ord Minnett’s Institutional Equities team specialises in small and mid-cap equity sales, corporate finance and research. Our in-house Research team, renowned for its thought provoking, differentiated coverage of domestic stocks, is looking to grow with the appointment of a Research Associate.

The opportunity

Based in either Melbourne or Sydney, and reporting to the Head of Institutional Research, the role of Research Associate will assist our analysts in the Diversified Financials and other Industrial sectors. This opportunity calls for an individual with a demonstrated passion for equities, a desire to learn how to analyse companies and industries, curiosity, strong written and personal presentation skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and handle diverse responsibilities.

Primary responsibilities in support of the senior analysts will include:

  • Conducting industry and detailed company research.
  • Building and maintaining financial models and proprietary databases.
  • Monitoring and reporting on news and data specific to companies/industries under coverage.
  • Cultivating company and industry contacts.
  • Assisting with queries from internal and external clients.
  • Remaining compliant with Ord Minnett policies, ASX and regulatory regimes.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting and/or related experience in fields such as investment banking, funds management, accounting or finance.
  • Relevant financial post grad studies would be viewed favourably (CFA, MFin).
  • Passion for equities and understanding businesses.
  • Financial modelling experience would be highly regarded.
  • Property sector or technology sector experience would be highly regarded.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Desire to build a career in equities research.
