How will you make an impact?

The Investment Analyst Private Marketswill play a key part in providing input to the strategic direction of the private market asset classes (including Infrastructure, Property, Credit and Private Equity) and the deployment of member capital to the private market asset classes to maximise member returns.

In conjunction with the CIO and Portfolio Manager (infrastructure), the Investment Analyst Private Marketswill assist in managing Hostplus’ unlisted portfolio to ensure it is constructed and managed in accordance with the PST’s risk and return objectives. The Investment Analyst Private Marketswill have input in all matters that relate to capital deployment, portfolio construction and portfolio monitoring.

We are open to candidates based in Melbourne or Adelaide.

The opportunity

As the Investment Analyst – Private Markets, you will play a key role in managing Hostplus’ unlisted portfolio across asset classes including Infrastructure, Property, Credit and Private Equity. You will be responsible for monitoring investment performance, maintaining portfolio models and analytical tools, and producing quarterly reports. Your role will involve analysing market conditions and portfolio performance drivers to inform asset class strategy, in collaboration with the asset consultant. You will also support the implementation of new investments by engaging with fund managers, conducting due diligence, reviewing legal documentation, and preparing governance reports.

In addition, you will contribute to internal and external reporting, including Board papers, asset class reviews, and stakeholder queries. You will lead responses to private market-specific information requests and support updates for external surveys. Ensuring compliance with APRA requirements and internal governance standards will be a key part of your role, alongside supporting operational due diligence and responding to regulatory and internal team requests. This is a dynamic opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and capital deployment of Hostplus’ private markets portfolio.

About you

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment analysis or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and comprehension skills and knowledge of financial markets and of investments.
  • Proficiency in excel
  • Strong written and presentation abilities, along with the capacity to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • The ability to apply deep research to conceptualise and develop solutions.
  • Curiosity, contrarian & lateral thought, integrity, and a desire for ongoing and continual improvement at both the personal and organisational levels.
