Job summary

Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in Canberra seeks an experienced Intranet Team Leader to drive the strategy and delivery of a user-centred intranet. You will own the intranet vision, lead a specialist team and collaborate with Communications and business areas to align with organisational priorities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading an intranet or digital platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the intranet roadmap and day-to-day operations, guiding strategic direction with the Director.
• Lead and manage the intranet team, set priorities, support performance and foster a high-performing culture.
• Provide subject matter expertise on intranet and internal digital experience to stakeholders.
• Oversee SharePoint Online administration, including permissions, information architecture and configuration to ensure governance and security.
• Review and maintain governance, standards and ways of working for SharePoint Online and intranet operations.
• Collaborate with Communications and business areas to innovate intranet content and design approaches grounded in user needs.

The Intranet Team Leader plays a key role in the Web and Collaboration Systems Section by leading the delivery of a high-quality, user-centred intranet that supports how staff work. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for the intranet, owns the intranet vision, and leads a specialist team. Working closely with communications and business areas, the role uses user insight and evidence to improve content, design and the overall internal digital experience, contributing to secure, accessible and well-governed digital services. The duties of the role may include some or all of the following:

• Lead the development and delivery of the intranet roadmap and day-to-day operations, guiding strategic direction in partnership with the Director to ensure the intranet is user-centred, accessible and aligned to organisational priorities.
• Lead and manage the intranet team, setting clear priorities, supporting performance and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
• Provide subject matter expertise on intranet and internal digital experience, delivering clear, evidence-based advice to stakeholders.
• Lead the operational administration of the intranet in SharePoint Online, including managing site settings, permissions, information architecture and configuration to ensure the platform is secure, reliable and well-governed.
• Review and maintain agreed intranet governance, standards and ways of working, ensuring SharePoint Online administration and changes align with approved policies and controls.
• Work closely with the Communications team and business areas to guide and innovate intranet content and design approaches, ensuring decisions are grounded in user needs and best practice.
• Use analytics, user feedback and operational insights to monitor performance, address issues and drive continuous improvement of the intranet experience.
