Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
• Proven ability to source and maintain contacts across the broader Australian community.
• Accomplished ability to research and plan interviews as well as book guests and conduct pre-interviews.
• Excellent ability to write news copy, interview briefs and generate dynamic ideas for enhancing News coverage through interviews and guests.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and book interviews and guests for News Channel’s rolling coverage, from one-on-one interviews to panel discussions.
• Coordinate guest bookings and interviews to be broadcast on the ABC News Channel and digital platforms.
• Assist in coordinating studio and satellite bookings and collaborate with ABC desks.
• Develop and generate story/segment ideas for TV and multi‑platform audiences in line with ABC Editorial Policies.
• Liaise with other ABC areas to plan and produce content of common interest for News Channel and other outlets.
• Monitor media outlets to build a strong understanding of current events and issues.
• Generate stories reflecting the diversity of Australia.
