Job summary

ACCIONA is seeking an interpreter to bridge English and Portuguese on a Central West Orana project in Australia. You will interpret toolbox talks, safety notices, and day-to-day instructions to ensure crews understand safety requirements.

Applicants should be fluent in both languages, with experience in high-risk environments and a White Card. Camp-style accommodation is provided on a 14 days on/7 days off roster.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Portuguese, written and spoken.
• Experience in construction, industrial, or other high-risk environments is preferred.
• Solid understanding of workplace health and safety terminology in both languages.
• Construction Induction (White Card) is required or willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting between English and Portuguese during toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and day-to-day work.
• Translating safety notices, procedures and work instructions so crews can follow them accurately.
• Supporting supervisors and crew leaders to communicate clearly with Portuguese-speaking team members.
• Attending site inductions, training sessions and safety briefings to interpret in real time.
• Flagging communication gaps early, before they turn into safety issues.
• Building trust with crews so they feel comfortable asking questions or raising concerns.

ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by Energy Co to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV), the design and construct (D&C) consortium, will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project will build new high-capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and supporting infrastructure to transfer power generated by solar and wind projects to electricity consumers. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by 2028 and will initially unlock up to 4.5 gigawatts of new network capacity. The project consists of 90km of 500kV overhead transmission lines and 150 km of 330kV transmission lines for generator connections, stretching from Elong Elong in the west through to Barigan Creek in the east, via an energy hub at Merotherie.Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Project Manager, you'll interpret between English and Portuguese so our crews always understand what's being asked of them, especially when it comes to work instructions and safety.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:* Interpreting between English and Portuguese during toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and day-to-day work.* Translating safety notices, procedures and work instructions so crews can follow them accurately.* Supporting supervisors and crew leaders to communicate clearly with Portuguese-speaking team members.* Attending site inductions, training sessions and safety briefings to interpret in real time.* Flagging communication gaps early, before they turn into safety issues.* Building trust with crews so they feel comfortable asking questions or raising concerns.**Required Skills and Competencies**You're fluent in English and Portuguese, and just as comfortable interpreting a safety briefing as you are a conversation on the tools.
