Job summary

Martens & Associates invites a motivated intern/graduate to join our Hornsby, NSW team as a Civil Design Engineer. You will gain exposure to a wide range of civil engineering projects in a busy multidisciplinary office, with mentoring and ongoing training.

We seek candidates who are near completion or graduated from an engineering degree, with strong English communication, a team spirit, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Be graduated from or enrolled in the later part of an engineering degree.
• Have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
• Be motivated, team player, well organised, and eager to learn.
• Have the ability to work in a civil design team within a culturally diverse office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with flood assessments, remediation and management planning.
• Contribute to property and development drainage assessment.
• Help develop site water quality, quantity and drainage solutions.
• Assist in civil design of earthworks, roads and regrading.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a talented intern / graduate to intermediate level Civil Design Engineer to join our busy multidisciplinary engineering office based in Hornsby, NSW.

The position presents an excellent opportunity to be exposed to a busy professional engineering consultancy with a wide range of projects. It is also an excellent opportunity to start a career with successful interns offered an opportunity for continued employment.

The intern position will provide the successful candidate exposure to engineering projects, involving a wide range of engineering works including:

• Flood assessments, remediation and management plans.
• Property and development drainage assessment.
• Development of site water quality, quantity and drainage solutions.
• Civil engineering design of earthworks, roads, regrading, etc.

Internships are offered on a 6 month full time basis. On successful completion of internships, opportunities may exist for continued full time employment while finalising studies.

It is ESSENTIAL for the applicants to:

• Be graduated from or enrolled in the later part of an engineering degree.

• Have the ability to work in a civil design team within a culturally diverse office.

It is FAVOURABLE for the applicants to have any of the following experiences and qualities:

• Civil design and modelling software packages (12d Model, Civil 3d, etc).
• Hydraulic, hydrological and water quality models (TUFLOW, DRAINS, HEC-RAS, RAFTS, MUSIC, 12d Model’s DNE, etc).
• GIS software packages (QGIS, ArcGIS, etc).
• CAD software packages (AutoCAD, BricsCAD, etc).
• Computer programming and scripting (Python, PyQGIS, VBA, C++, AutoLISP, etc).
• Previous experience in multi disciplinary consultancy, especially in land development.
